Average returns are not average

How many times has the market ended the year up between 8-10% (the average) on December 31st?
We reference average returns over the life of an investment, but the reality is that most of the time, the market closes out the year somewhere outside that average range. There’s a lot more variety in that year-end figure than 8-10%. We talk about why – and how that’s a GOOD thing – in this week’s podcast.
